Wow. What I just experienced made me want to write here.
Its been awhile.
Over the past few months, I’ve seen Donald Glover retweet ‘Roscoe’s Wetsuit’ constantly. I figured it was for his upcoming project and it was. But I had no idea his newest work would be this creative, unique and in depth. Truly well executed.
The whole experience will take about an hour of your time, but its well worth it.
Start with this; at the end of his album CAMP:
After that, I believe it leads into his newest work: “Because The Internet”
Click that link. If you take the time and let yourself be enveloped by the story, I think you’ll really enjoy it.
I’ll definitely be purchasing the album.

Donald Glover finally made it to Miami?!
Time to celebrate.
Yesterday was my second time seeing Childish Gambino, this first time I had to make the 4 hour trek to Orlando to see him. You can read about that here if you’d like your memory refreshed. Last night he was at the Fillmore in South Beach. Luckily, I was able to sneak in my camera.
Danny Brown opened. I had heard of him. He’s definitely different and has his own style. I like this song of his:
(Turn on the lights Fillmore, gosh) I just can’t handle song after song by him. Having said that, I’ll probably download the Detroit native’s mixtapes.
Man, Mr. Glover’s show did not disappoint, in fact, I’d dare to say it was even better than the last. He brought even more energy and so did his band, which really made the difference. The crowd was going crazy. See below. Sadly, I also realized I might need a new camera soon, she can’t handle bass like she used to. 😦
He even preformed a remix of the ever popular ‘Rack City’ (below). Something tells me that’ll be on his mixtape coming up titled ….Mixtape. He also preformed the intro to it “We Ain’t Them”.
This time, Childish even had a fancy backdrop for his stage. Trees, better lighting, and better speakers… No offense Orlando. Having said that, this performance seemed to have a lot more jailbait running around. Childish definitely has the 16-19 age bracket on lock in South Florida…more like 18-22, but whats the difference? I still felt like a AARP member. Either way, I still enjoyed the show.
So now we wait. Wait for his mixtape ‘Mixtape’ to drop so we can all enjoy some more free Childish Gambino. Until then, I’ll leave you with one more video, Heartbeat, which is probably my most favorite song on his last album, Camp.
See you at Lollapalooza Mr. Glover.

Just saw this song and these photos posted over at Childish Gambino’s blog IAmDonald.com, thought I’d share them with you kind folks. It appears this will be the first song on his new mixtape….titled errrr ‘Mixtape’. Looking forward to that tape.
Sidebar: Wonder what the thought is behind using Drake as the poster. Anywho, can’t wait to see him again in June in the 305.

First up, Miami’s own QuESt. I had heard a track or two from him last year. “If You Wanna” that caught my ear, but his other songs at the time just didn’t really stand out to me. Well, that’s changed now after his last mixtape ‘Fear Not Failure’. He brings out a new vibe and I’m a fan.
Check out the trailer below.
I’ve given this mixtape a couple listens to and it gets The DKA Life seal of approval. The production has alot of electronic influence, which is always welcome. A lot of the album…I mean mixtape, also has a Weeknd feel/sound production wise. However, its a bit more uplifting than the Weeknd. Definitely one of the best, complete projects I’ve heard thus far this year.
Hopefully I’ll get to see him live before I leave the 305. I look forward to hearing more of his work.
…I posted it first for a reason, go download it.
aaaand of course, I gotta give you the new Childish Gambino tracks that dropped (one’s a feature in his fellow producer/singer Ludovin’s new project) Looking forward to Donald’s mixtape….errr Mixtape EP dropping later this year.
via GMAD (gracias)
Ludovin’s “Tricks” ft. Childish Gambino
Childish Gambino “Eat Your Vegetables”
Boy, this came outta no where. Funkmaster Flex & DJ Khaled dropped this lil Kanye joint today, “Theraflu”. So so so coooold Yeeezy. Kanye goin off on some dudes. Can’t wait for the new kicks to drop. My boy Philly is gonna have to school me on how to get them exclusive kicks.
…and stay tuned for GOOD Friday.
Yeah, I been slacking. Mac Miller dropped this mixtape, ‘Macadelic’, off 2 weeks ago I believe. I’ve enjoyed it. This mixtape is a bit more mature and is a solid project that’s worth the download.
Well, I think that’s all I got for now. I need to post more often, but I was busy working the ER and partying my ass off. I’m home now, but when I get back to Miami, expect a couple more posts. Definitely had an insane night at Liv that I’ll be blogging about.
That is all. DKA out.

I’m sorry I’ve been neglecting you readers. I’ve been busy delivering babies like its my job. Literally.
Anyway, last weekend I was able to head up to Orlando w/ RauchER! to go see the Mastermind himself, Childish Gambino. If you’ve ever read my blog, you know I have a chubby for this guy’s talent. I haven’t been this excited since I first listened to Big Sean’s Finally Famous Vol II, which I put you on back in the spring of 2009.
Next up, is Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino.
Its amazing how diverse Childish Gambino’s fan-base is. The venue was packed with a garden salad of a crowd, which speaks volumes to the potential he has to capture America’s ears. Every one of his lyrics packs a witty punch.
The show started at 9 with no opening performances, just the man himself and his band. No comedy routine like he had in his previous tour. This performance was all Childish Gambino. Without further adieu, here are some of the videos I took.
A few old favorites:
“Break (AOTL remix)”
“Got This Money”
The performance overall was full of energy. Donald played all of the favorites off his various mixtapes, which you can download for yourself here and here. My only complaints had to be the lighting, which was shady, See what I did there?, and his mic could have have been a bit louder, of course that might have just been the crowds fault for knowing every lyric. Either way I’m glad I did not miss this concert.
Childish was also nice enough to perform a few new tracks off his upcoming debut album “Camp” tentatively due out November 15th. Enjoy.
“You See Me”
“All The Shine”
Keep your ears open. Before you know it, this guy is going to be flooding the radio waves, and I wont hate it.
DKA out.
P.S. Shout out to Barnitz for letting us crash at his place and to Dan for driving.

My favorite new artist (and soon to be yours), Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino, releases his first single off his debut album “Camp”. Here’s what he had to say:
“Camp” is done…
Which is weird, cause it’s really starting.
It’s been strange the past couple months making the album but also talking to you guys about it. I wanted you all to know I really appreciate it. The album wouldn’t be the album without you. It’s pretty personal, but you guys made it okay for me to be personal, so I wanted to thank you.
“Bonfire” is out on Tuesday. It’ll be on iTunes. Ask for it wherever you wanna hear it.
“I make the beat retarded, so I’m callin’ it a slow jam”
“I’m from the south, ain’t got no accent, don’t know why.
So this raps child’s play,I do my name, like Princess Di.”
“The sh*t I’m doin this year. Insanity./ Made the beat then murdered it. Casey Anthony.”
KILLS IT. Can’t wait to see him in Orlando.

This is before the IAMDONALD EP, I posted a few months ago. This is a lot more refined and better than his I Do Not Talk Mixtape, which was a lot of his earlier, unfinished work. RauchER! wanted me to post this for him and every one should definitely download it and give it a listen. Its just about as good as his IAMDONALD EP. Some of my favorites are:
“Let Me Dope You” “Different” “F**k it All” and “So Fly” (for the ladies).
I just hope he stops by South Florida soon.
Big shout out to @phi11ay for puttin’ me on this album! (and @Bendey for originally puttin’ me on to Childish ha)

I need to see this guy before he starts sellin’ out stadiums. Crossin’ my fingers he rolls through Miami or Ft. Laudy sometime soon. If you a fan of his, you’ll enjoy this:
“Impromptu Boise, Idaho show. Bitch, Look at Me Now (freestyle and fuckups) & Not Going Back at Chandler’s Steakhouse. So Funny.”
My fellow Michiganders, he’s rollin through Detroit at the Magic Stick, May 17th. do it. boiiiiii.
