THE DKA LIFE

Playlistings XI: Summer Release

Yup.

>DOWNLOAD HERE<

Well friends, the wait is over. Playlistings has returned for a special Summer Release.   Bendey and I couldn’t hold it back, there are just too many dope songs that you need to be jammin’ to this summer.  Some of them you’ve probably heard before if you’ve kept up with TheDKALife, but there are a plethora of other new tracks on this edition.

As some of you may know, Bendey’s blog Vivid Underground has been dissolved to make way for Bendey.com.  Bendey has decided to keep his new site professional and use it primarily to display his talents.  Props to him. Go check it out. www.Bendey.com

Here’s what Matt had to say:

“I just wanted to make this one be special. It’s been a while since we (DKA) crashed heads and I think we got a good release here…new, smart, and guaranteed to kick-start anyone’s summer.

As something that I love to do, but suddenly find it hard to set aside time and resources to enjoy; Playlistings has taken a backseat to some of the ‘more important’ things in life. This is the part where you say, “hey yo Bender, man up! I thought you had balls, sir. You gettin’ soft?” To which I would reply with a swift slap to your face. Instead of Playlistings releases coming every few weeks, they may become more sporadic throughout the year, but 10x more special. With this Summer Release, I wanted to communicate that. The design, much like a timeless leather-bound book, should show you’ve got something special here. Enjoy it.”

We’re both busy.  No guarantees there will be any future releases.  If there are, you will find them released exclusively at The DKA Life.  It will all depend if I have the time to compile the tracks and if Bendey has the time to make a dope cover.  So many responsibilities these days.  Growin’ up sucks.

So without further adieu, I hope you’ve already hit the download button and are eagerly awaiting the status bar to be at 100%.  I think you will be pleasantly satisfied with this Playlistings.  Tell all your friends and family & feel free to leave comments and let me know what you think.

DKA out.

Disclaimer: All of these tracks have been released by the artist’s themselves.  Thus, I find it fair to compile them into one magnificent mixtape.  Upon any request, the link will be removed immediately.

Volume 5 is released despite things heating up in Chicago and Miami. The DKA Life will be squeezing the work in between PA classes from now on, while The Vivid Underground is busy earning those dead presidents. This Playlistings edition has got a bit of everything; reggae, remixes, R with-a-little-bit-of-B, radio destined rips, and some regular ol’ ridiculous rap bangers.  We’ll be tryin’ our best to keep ya all updated.  “LISSSSTENNNN” -DJ Khaled

A couple must D/L mixtapes: Wale. DLRN. Ghostwridah.

I’ve been pretty busy the past month, but here are a couple mixtapes that I think are must downloads.

First up, we have Ghostwridah’s “In Love With My Future”.  He’s a Dade County native and you might have first heard him on Playlistings: vol I. 305 Special “Red Bottoms” w/ the Jay-Z hook.  Its good hiphop and been in my rotation.

Next up is DLRN or Delorean, one of the fellas over at Code 2, El Capitan, discovered this little 8 track mixtape “The Bridge” that definitely has a unique sound.  So much so, I’m probably gonna go download their old album right after this post.  “Trill Cosby”, “Reset” and “…Fallen Heroes” are some of my favorite tracks.  They combine smooth flowin’ wordplay with synthesizers and it works beautifully.

“I’m on my G, shes on her back, till she pulls me over like a starter jacket, that line there is when you start to catch it, I stay over heads, lettuce and cabbage”

Lastly, but not least, is the homey Wale.

I had this shirt first.

He released “A Mixtape About Nothing” last year and just released “More About Nothing”, another Seinfeld themed mixtape….which is good by me, since I love that show.  Some of my favorites are The Eye of the Tiger, which is centered around the Tiger Woods drama and is quite clever… you can also find this on Playlistings vol III. Another good one is “The War”, “The Cool” w/ Wiz Khalifa and “The Black and Gold”.

Well, there are 3 free CD’s (4 counting playlistings…but you already downloaded that right?! haaaaa) from your boy DA.

Enduldge your ear drums and lemme know what you like.

Drake.

Drake "The Best of Drizzy"

I’ve been hearing about him for quite some time now.  Drake is an MC that is from Toronto, Canada and has the  backing of Lil’ Wayne (who is on a couple tracks with him as well and also has Drake performing with him).  NT loves him and so does hiphopupdate.  The first couple tracks I heard from him impressed me (Ransom ft. Lil Wayne), but I never took the time to follow up on him.

Drake lookin' like Obama here

So a couple days ago I wanted some new music to listen to so I downloaded a mixtape that NT recommended, The Best of Drizzy.  I must say that I’m very impressed.  I would say that he is somewhere between Wale and Kid Cudi as far as style goes.  He’s probably better than Wale lyrics wise, but Wale has alot more songs that are meaningful.  Drake also sings in a some of his songs and is Kid Cudi like, although not quite as good as it.  This mixtape is a quality download, especially since its free.  Although for some of the songs he’s just rapping over other beats (i.e Swagger Like Us, Barry Bonds), he stil brings the lyrics to the table.  Some of his best songs are his slower ones.

Here is a dose of one of his lyrics:

“I’m perfectin’ my craft, usin’ mo’ sess. Tryin’ to make some cheese off a single is a pro’cess.  Get it? Kraft. Single. Cheese. Process. Sit back and admire the talent that i po’ssess.”

“You can’t miss the boy, me and rich United like Van Nistelrooy”

***

At the end of the day, Drake falls in between these two artists and is refreshing.

I forget where I downloaded it but here’s the same or a different link I found to download the mixtape (DL with caution).
